Hailing as one of the co-founders of UK-based dance music label Hessle Audio, Ben UFO has been responsible for some of the most ground-breaking releases of recent years. Ben UFO's musical taste was shaped primarily by having been immersed in the dubstep scenes of London and Leeds in 2005. Known as
one of the first DJs to play material by Joy Orbison and Blawan, in addition to heading up a biweekly slot on London's ex-pirate radio station RinseFM, Ben UFO has accumulated a stellar reputation throughout the bass music scene; going on to create mixes for Red Bull Music Academy, Resident Advisor, XLR8R and Fact Magazine. Encryption vs. Refugee
Encryption: This DC native has had a deep passion for drum and bass that spans over a decade. A few years being in the scene, Encryption was drawn to the sound of neurofunk after hearing DC heroes, Sinthetix, play around the Washington, DC area.
After years DJing and opening up for some of the biggest names in drum and bass, Encryption began helping run www.DirtboxRadio.com, DC’s longest running drum and bass radio station, and making contributions to www.ExpansionBroadcast.com. He has also collaborated with many of the area’s finest DJ’s and MC’s having opening up for artist like DJ Hype, Rusko, N -Type, Diesel Boy, Truth, Marcus Intalex, Distance, 16bit, Noisia, Caspa, John B, Von D ,The UpBeats, Hulk, Martyn, Gein, The Chosen, Emalkay, Mayhem, Catacomb, FreakyFlow, 12th Planet, Dara and MentalSharp.

RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY
More than 1,500 musical luminaries have participated in past incarnations of the Red Bull Music Academy. Former lecturers include Chuck D, Erykah Badu, Steve Reich, Sly & Robbie, Mark Ronson, M.I.A., Hot Chip, dubstep pioneers Skream and Benga, MF Doom, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, RZA, Gilberto Gil, CHIC’s Nile Rodgers, El Guincho, and pioneering synth inventor Bob Moog, amongst others. Many Academy alumni have gone on to become true innovators of their scenes like LA soul singer Aloe Blacc (“I Need A Dollar”); experimental electronic music producer Flying Lotus, currently collaborating with Erykah Badu and Thom Yorke; Mr Hudson, a British R&B/pop artist signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label; and singer/songwriter Jamie Woon, who last year recorded a Mercury Prize Session, a celebration of the best live music in the UK.
The Red Bull Music Academy has been pairing industry legends and emerging music-makers since 1998 in cities such as Berlin, Seattle, Cape Town, Melbourne, Barcelona, Rome, São Paulo and London. This unique combination of old school knowledge and new school music is unrivaled for its creative exploration and achievement. Each Red Bull Music Academy leaves behind structures to inhabit musical collaboration and creative exchange for years to come. By the end of 2012, there will be eight fully functioning Red Bull Music Academy recording studios around the world.
