DJ Double 07
DJ Double o7: a fixture of the underground dance community since 93’.
Most embark on a DJ career with a passion for music and follow a clear-cut path to music production. However, Double o7 has managed to maintain his status as a highly respected talent by dedicating over a decade to ensuring quality event production, promotion, and performance. In 2002 he co-founded Knee Deep (Washington DC). This weekly event introduced his big room sounds to lounges around the DC area, and nationwide. Knee Deep covered all genres of electronic dance music (EDM) but focused specifically on Deep House. Those weekly residencies spun off into multiple events throughout the Washington Metropolitan region and led to an annual party at Miami’s Winter Music Conference.
By 2004, Double o7 was invited into the collective 3degrees Global, combining six markets into one (San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Miami, London and Washington DC) and launching a monthly residency in DC at Club 5. Being a part of 3degrees led to additional event productions and performances nationwide.
Over his career, Double o7 has headlined with talent such as Frankie Knuckles, Kerri Chandler, Stacy Kidd, Andy Caldwell, Simbad, Tony Humphries, Miguel Migs, Lisa Shaw, Kenny Bobien, JoJo Flores, Roy Davis Jr. , Tortured Soul and Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez.
After a decade in the industry, he shifted his career into overdrive by teaming up with Thievery Corporation and the Eighteenth Street Lounge for a weekly residency on Friday nights. This has become Double o7’s latest platform to introduce the masses to Afro and Broken beats, Deep House, Disco, Tech House, and Soulful vocals.
You can catch Double o7 as he enters his third year as a resident and continues his contribution to the East Coast sound monthly at the infamous Deep House and Debauchery event live at ESL, or via the live broadcast on ESL Radio. You can also listen to an archive and his most recent mixes at his Soundcloud page, DJ Double 07.
While the District of Columbia has seen a fluctuation of creative types recently, few artists have influenced the scene as prolifically as OZKER. Organic and locally grown, OZKER has established himself in the past few years as one of DC's hardest working DJ, producer, graphic designer and mural artist, all the while spreading that undeniable aura of being a loveable, huggable type of guy. His devotion to the infectious groove and its counterpart, the bottomless beat, is matched only by his devotion to that trademark follicle foliage that you're bound to see bobbing up and down behind turntables throughout the city!
Ozker has opened for such noted talent as Dillon Francis, The Bloody Beetroots, Will Eastman, Gigamesh, Classixx, Tensnake, Oliver, The 2 Bears, Bit Funk, Anna Lunoe & Nickodemus, amongst many others. He holds several monthly residencies in the city, including nights at Eighteenth St Lounge, Dodge City, Marvin and the Velvet Lounge.
