Oddisee
Oddisee
The son of Sudanese and American parents, Amir Mohamed was born and raised in the United States capital city of Washington DC, spending hot summers in Khartoum learning Arabic and swimming in the Nile. Growing up amidst the sounds of New York hip hop, his father playing Oud, Go-Go, and gospel, Amir took his first steps as an MC producer in the analog basement studio of his legendary neighbor, Garry Shider (Parliament Funkadelic).

Convincing his entrepreneurial father that he too had business acumen, Amir laid the check from his first commercial release on the kitchen table before his 21st birthday and never looked back. Though Oddisee has gone on to perform with The Roots, produce for Jazzy Jeff, Little Brother, & De La Soul, form the critically acclaimed group Diamond District with fellow Washingtonians X.O. and yU, and become a world renown musician.

His work has been featured on the Facebook Series Humans of New York, in countless films, television ads for everything from snowboards to bicycles, and even at Google's product unveiling. In 2017 he preformed at over 110 shows around the globe with his band Good Compny in support of his album "The Iceberg." He has been featured almost everywhere from Time Magazine and USA Today to Pitchfork and Rolling Stone.

Known in the music industry for his independence, Oddisee consistently debunks the scatterbrained artist myth - doing everything from booking international tours to photography to marketing and promoting himself and even other artists. He has been signed with Mello Music Group since 2008.

Towards the end of 2011, Producer/M.C., Oddisee was prepping to tour his debut LP, “People Hear What They See” released on prolific hip-hop music label, MELLOMUSICGROUP. As his production style consisted heavily of live instrumentation, he felt doing the usual DJ/M.C. show would not do justice to the live element he felt it deserved. Thus, he decided to attempt his tour this time around with a live band. What better way to execute this than with the guys who played on the album? This idea gave birth to the elite sound of GOOD COMPNY.

Although the name had not materialized until later, GOOD COMPNY includes Jon Laine (JLAINE) on drums/vocals, Dennis Turner (MR. TURNER) on bass, Ralph Washington (RALPH REAL) on keys/vocals, Olivier St. Louis on guitar/vocals Richard Patterson (UNOWN) on MPC and Oddisee at the helm as lead vocals.

Albeit Oddisee's impressive credentials, the GOOD COMPNY roster boasts a notable set of their own.

Jon Laine and MR.TURNER (both individually and collectively) have worked and performed with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, David Foster, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Omar, Dave Chappelle and many others. Olivier St Louis as a singer/songwriter has recorded and toured with super producer Hudson Mohawke and two-time, platinum selling producer/DJ group C2C.Dj's. Ralph Washington, an accomplished pianist has over 20 years of professional musicianship has performed on Oddisee’s albums for 10 years, and Richard Patterson, a sound engineer by trade, is also a prolific Hip-Hop producer landing production credit with Raekwon of the Wu-Tang clan in 2013.

Oddisee and GOOD COMPNY'S unique sound is an eclectic combination of genres primarily based in Hip-Hop and soul with elements of Jazz, Funk and 'Go-Go', a music style native to the collectives hometown of Washington DC. Within two short years, Oddisee and GOOD COMPNY have garnered an already impressive resume with over 50 performances nationally and internationally receiving high praise from fans and critics alike. In fact, some of the critics are dubbing the group as, 'The New Roots.'

Due to rising popularity, GOOD COMPNY had to force a much needed hiatus to work on the next chapter, “The GOOD COMPNY ALBUM” ...Watch the Space.
Olivier St. Louis
Olivier St. Louis
Olivier was born in Washington DC of Haitian and Cameroon heritage, but spent most of his childhood studying in the remote countryside of the UK. His boarding school experience not only developed his appreciation for other cultures but musically he grew-up hearing beyond the excepted genres of a kid from the Nation’s Capital. At age 15 Olivier’s CD and sometimes cassette collection would range from hip hop, RnB to Garage and British rock.

Olivier remained in the UK and completed a Bio Science Degree in Oxford but couldn’t suppress his real passion for music. After graduation, he began a ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ life. A scientist by day; recording artist by night.

In 2006 he released his first album titled “kilowatt”, which put the artist known as ‘Olivier Daysoul’ on the map within the underground electro-hip-hop scene. Simultaneously, Olivier began receiving numerous requests from producers to feature as a vocalist.

He went on to receive significant international attention for his work as a featured singer/songwriter. This momentum pushed Olivier in 2010 to take the leap and pursue music full time. He worked and toured worldwide with various artists including Hudson Mohawke, Oddisee, the C2C Dj’s, and many more. Despite all of this, Olivier felt something was missing…A true reflection of his own voice and sound.

A hiatus from feature recordings and some deep introspection found Olivier discovering his love for blues, rock and funk. Many late-night guitar sessions resulted in new soundscapes. A new chapter was opening. The former ‘Daysoul’ moniker exchanged for his original birth name ‘St. Louis’. Producing and writing all his own music and playing his own instrumentation; Olivier St. Louis was embarking on a new road.

After a successful UK Tour with Laura Mvula, Olivier is getting ready to join Germany’s most prolific band at the moment, AnnenMayKantereit for another Tour in spring 2017 and he surely won’t come without his upcoming release “Ever since the fall EP”, out on Jakarta Records in February 2017.

When asked his thoughts on his artistry he states: "no punches pulled …no compromises … just me”.

Exposed to Roots Reggae at very early age, listening to everything from Peter Tosh to Culture. Nebyu’s love for music quickly became an infatuation. Shortly after Nebyu started to write lyrics of his own, the older he grew the more his music reflected his Rastafarian/Pan-Africanist upbringing. With his influences ranging from a wide variety of MCs from Nas to Gucci Mane, Ras Nebyu manages to bridge the gap between socially conscious content and leisure listening without compromising his lyricals. He is the self proclaimed "starting point guard of the Washington Slizzards", a group of young talented individuals who are involved in several creative indevors from music to clothing. With two music videos (Capital of Hate & Washington Slizzards) under his belt, Nebyu is preparing to release his 2nd EP "Babylon’s Most Wanted". Slated to release the day after Christmas, this EP is a collection of songs dealing with life for a young black male in Washington, DC from the perspective of an Uptown Ethiopian Rasta.
