Presented by Siren
Led by resident DC native DJ MAJR + friends, Siren has been throwing periodic diva-centric dance bashes in DC since July 2010 and this will be its 4th KYLIE JULYLIE! Along with the flagship Robyn Riot (which enters its 9th year in September) and Beyonce Ball, Siren has exulted in all kinds of icons, from Peaches to Paula Abdul; Spice Girls to St Vincent; MARINA to M.I.A. Always including a performance or two and no small amount of glitter, Siren is about inclusion, celebration and going completely and unapologetically over-the-top for its queens of all kinds.
Beginning at underground DC parties in 2006 and clubs from late 2008, DC-area native MAJR has been a mainstay in his hometown’s music scene for more than a decade. From 2008-2011, his eclectic party SHIFT helped evolve the landscape of local nightlife, while his iconic diva-celebratory SIREN has continued that tradition since 2010 with annual bashes of epic proportions, including the ROBYN RIOT and KYLIE JULYLIE. MAJR is an ex-resident at Berlin Nightclub and Big Chicks in Chicago, Green Lantern and Cobalt in DC, IBT’s in Tucson and played multiple festivals and clubs throughout the country. MAJR loves to dance—first and foremost—and his passion for blending nu disco, future & tropical house with dirty indie electro and guilty retro pleasures into a collectively danceable momentum is matched only by his fervor for making the floor erupt into frenzy.
Ed Bailey is a club legend and still sets the standard in his live performances. House, High-Energy Pop, EDM, Vocal House and everything in between can be heard when this former resident of the iconic 1722 (Baltimore), Jungle (Atlanta) and Tracks (DC) takes to the booth. He has toured and opened for the likes of Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, Blondie and B-52’s and his other residencies include Town Danceboutique and Nation in DC, Pure and Voyeur in Philadelphia, as well as Fusion in Atlanta and Salvation in Miami. From dark and sweaty underground venues to over-the-top party weekend productions, Ed Bailey has done it all—all while calling Washington DC home for 30+ years. He has become even more well-known for his Madonnarama events and has never—despite all of his remarkable success and resume—taken any of this too seriously. After all, he reminds us, “it’s a party, it’s supposed to be fun, not serious.”
Few DJs/promoters have affected the scene in a more positive manner over the last decade-plus than Aaron Riggins, whose resume is long and storied over that time, including starting and organizing the most popular monthly happy hour (HHHH: Homo Hotel Happy Hour) DC’s LGBTQ+ scene has experienced more than a decade ago. Doors were opened and the musical savant went on to DJ at clubs throughout the District, threw parties such as Town Danceboutique’s “WTF?!” and was one of the original DJ/promoters of SIREN when it commenced in 2010. He is the man behind the scenes lifting young bar TRADE to become one of the most heralded and inclusive performance bars in America and recently curated Capital Pride’s “RIOT!” on opening weekend of Pride 2019. Musically, he is a lover of all things that make the booty shake: indie dance, funk, nu disco, tropical house, future house and no small amount of Kylie-glittered dance pop can be heard when this immensely talented technician and unsung local hero hits the decks.
Pussy Noir, who has been with SIREN since its June 2010 inception, is the stage and nightclub persona of performance artist Jason Barnes. A performer since the age of four, Jason has combined his formal training in stage and voice with his love for fashion and the avant-garde. As John Marble of Brightest Young Things once put it, Pussy Noir is “more gender-f*ck than drag.” She is not a diva or a queen, she is a distinct and uninhibited voice, bathing in layers of contradictions, from stilettos to poodle skirts. She provokes and incites the crowd and when all is said and done, what’s left is nothing but a boy in heels. Skin to stage.
Representing the Haus of Stone, Vagenesis is a rising star in the DC drag community. Winner of DC Drag Wars Season 3, she has taken no prisoners in her performance prowess and infectious personality on stage, hosting multiple events per week and giving equal parts comedy, calamity and comeliness with a touch of class.
Keeping the starch in your dancing jeans, Rigatoni is best baked, not boiled, and tempers her pageant looks with potent sass. The DC-based drag performer never takes it seriously, but always gives a serious performance and keeps you laughing and loving what she’s giving you. A member of the House of Sonique, she recently shined like a brand new pillbox at the Hirshhorn Ball.
Miss LaBella Mafia
Stage presence and sheer star-power personified, MISS LABELLA MAFIA will be making her SIREN and JULYLIE debut on Friday. A massive Kylie fan, the self-proclaimed asian persuasion of Washington DC is set to light up the stage with lewks for days and dance moves worthy of The Kween. She will have you spinning around for light years!
