Job posting: Marketing Assistant at U Street Music Hall

Calling all promoters: U Street Music Hall is hiring a Marketing Assistant!

For this role, we are looking for a promoter through and through who has a deep passion for dance and electronic music, building communities, and engaging with fans. Responsibilities range from social media engagement to street team deployment to show-specific promotions—all done in an effort to get fans excited for the world-class artists that perform at our venue every week.

Here are some of the things you’ll be working on in this role:

Social media supervision. The Marketing Assistant will work with the Promotions Director to oversee U Street Music Hall’s various social media networks, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You’ll need to be familiar with our artists and know best engagement practices for each platform. In addition to creating/planning daily content that showcases the best of what’s coming to the club, you’ll also be responsible for responding to fan questions and overseeing social media community management.

Run the U Street Music Hall street team. We are looking for someone who can lead our enthusiastic volunteer crew and recruit new members to help get the word out for our shows. This means regularly tabling and flyering at shows, postering around town and at area colleges, and developing the best promotional materials aimed toward fans.

Digital engagement. The Marketing Assistant will create social media and digital ad campaigns. This will often include communicating with artist/label management when necessary. You’ll also provide the Promotions Director regular ad performance reports to best inform our strategy.

Show promotions. The Marketing Assistant will work closely with the Promotions Director to develop show-specific promos, including ticket giveaways, meet-and-greets, and other activations.

Maintain artwork requests. You’ll handle artwork requests and will design flyers or other promotional materials when needed. Photoshop and video editing skills are a big plus.
